• Studien zum Medienverhalten von Jugendlichen verweisen auf eine wachsende Bedeutung von Erklärvideos im Bildungskontext als niedrigschwellig zugängliche und für Lernende oft sehr ansprechende Lernressource (vgl. RKB 2019; mpfs 2020). Dieser Artikel untersucht in Form einer explorativen Fallstudie den Einsatz von Erklärvideos für den Deutschunterricht der Plattform YouTube. Hierfür wurden besonders frequentierte Themenfelder des Faches mittels Klickzahlen ermittelt und aus diesen die Literaturgeschichte als thematischer Rahmen der Untersuchung bestimmt. Als Analyseinstrumentarium dienten die in einer Metaanalyse ermittelten pädagogisch-didaktischen Qualitätskriterien von Erklärvideos nach Siegel / Hensch (2021). Anhand der vertieften Analyse von vier beispielhaften Videos werden Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Einsatzes von Erklärvideos zur Literaturgeschichte für den Deutschunterricht beleuchtet.
• Studies on the media behavior of young people highlight the increasing significance of explainer videos in the educational context as a user-friendly, accessible, and often highly appealing learning resource for learners (see RKB 2019; mpfs 2020). This article investigates the utilization of explainer videos for German lessons on the YouTube platform through an explainer case study. To achieve this, subject areas with high engagement were identified based on click counts, and the history of literature was chosen as the thematic framework for the study. The pedagogical-didactic quality criteria for explanatory videos, as outlined by Siegel / Hensch (2021) in a meta-analysis, served as the analytical tool. Through a detailed analysis of four exemplary videos, the article illuminates the possibilities and limitations of employing explainer videos on history of literature in German lessons.
