"In ihrer Zeitung […] versuchten sie an alle heranzukommen und sie an ihre tolle Kultur und an sie selbst zu erinnern": (digitalisierte) historische Zeitungen als Quellen im Geschichtsunterricht

  • The text focuses on the question of the value of historical newspapers for historical learning. This question has gained importance through numerous digitization projects in recent years, which have made historical newspapers an easily available source. The presented intervention study with four groups of learners in grade ten fits into the context of comparative media studies in history didactics, which aim to explore the value of digital media for history teaching. For this purpose, learners’ writing products are examined by means of qualitative content analysis, based on facsimile prints of entire issues of historical newspapers, on digitized facsimiles of the same newspapers, on historical newspapers researched by the learners themselves, and on sources prepared for teaching. The results of an inferential statistical investigation of the quantified results of the content analysis for a subarea of the evaluation are presented.
