Transformation and/of "colonial tropes"

  • Based on Latin American rubber exploitation narrations of the 20th century, and in relation to present-day extraction conflicts in the so-called South American Lithium Triangle, the chapter discusses certain discursivity accompanying the transformation of the “golden” trope in the context of Latin American environmental inequality and resilience and its palimpsestic ambivalence, proposing that the latter is less a constellation of conflicting (t)issues than already a product of problematic unilateralization.
