Graphical methods, analytic
- Graphics are a powerful tool for representing and analyzing data. Interactive graphics are ideal for exploratory data analyses, for checking data quality, for investigating assumptions, and for uncovering information. Standard statistical displays (e.g., histograms and scatterplots) are empowered by the addition of interactive features such as direct querying, reformatting, and linking. Displays of complex multivariate data become workable in an interactive implementation. Mosaic plots for categorical data and parallel coordinate plots for continuous data are two recent examples.
