• In der Debatte über Verbesserungen der Informationsinfrastruktur deutscher Universitäten wird deutlich, dass die Verschmelzung zentraler Einrichtungen ebenso Chancen und Risiken birgt wie eine kooperative Lösung. Die Universität Augsburg baut mit Unterstützung der DFG ein IT-Servicezentrum auf, das unter der Leitung des CIO als zentrale Kompetenzeinheit, als Koordinierungsinstanz und als Kooperationszentrum fungiert. Der Beitrag schildert die Planung, die Arbeitsstruktur (Lenkungsrat, Servicegruppen, Projektgruppen) und die gemeinsame Aufbauarbeit an dem Zentrum, bei der auch die Universitätsverwaltung und Wissenschaftler mitwirken.
• The debate about the optimization of IT-infrastructure and services in German universities shows that a merger of the university library, the computing center and the media center involves special risks and chances as well as an organized cooperation of these partners. With a grant from the German Research Association (DFG), Augsburg University is setting up an IT Service Center headed by the CIO that enables coordination and cooperation and moreover brings together a range of different competencies. The article describes the planning process, the center’s structure and the practical work that includes contributions of the university administration and researchers too.
