Identification and quantification of corrosion-relevant parameters in waste incineration plants via characterization of the deposited particles and electrochemical online-measurements
- The corrosion attack of the flue gas strongly reduces the effectiveness and profitability of waste incineration plants. This effect particularly affects the metallic installation, which is responsible for energy generation. Chlorine induced active oxidation is the main mechanism, which leads to increased abrasion of the tube walls and early failure of the metallic components. The identification and the quantification of the relevant parameters are necessary to minimize the corrosion attack. The analysis is conducted in this work via electrochemical online-measurements. The influence of the flue gas temperature, the tube wall temperature, the flow velocity as well as the composition of the flue gas are the analyzed parameters. The supply of the relevant chlorine is caused by deposited particles, which are characterized in this work and the relevant fractions for the corrosion attack are discussed.
