Model driven approach for open distributed systems using an Enterprise Architecture Framework
- Open distributed systems are complex systems, which contain a lot of components provided by different vendors and built with different technologies. The use of well-established and standardized modelling techniques is one way to deal with the problems that occur in the specification and development process of these systems. Enterprise Architecture Frameworks provide a good foundation to structure the various required modelling techniques. Existing modelling solutions in the context of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks like UML4ODP, UPDM and ArchiMate do not provide optimal support for the specification of open distributed systems. In this report a coherent modelling approach for open distributed systems using an enterprise architecture framework (MODEA) is presented. In the approach the latest OMG standards like UML, SoaML BPMN and BMM are used. As enterprise architecture framework the Reference Model for Open Distributed Systems(RM-ODP) has been chosen. Finally MODEA is illustratedOpen distributed systems are complex systems, which contain a lot of components provided by different vendors and built with different technologies.
