• Der Aufsatz schlägt eine neue, argumentationsbasierte Rekonstruktion der Risikodiskurse über Grüne Gentechnik und Mobilfunk in Deutschland vor. Dabei wird das »argumentum ad ignorantiam« als Schlüssel benutzt. Dieses Argument wurde in den letzten Jahren vielfach untersucht, insbesondere durch Douglas Walton; der erreichte Forschungsstand soll im Folgenden für die empirische Diskursforschung fruchtbar gemacht werden. Indem empirisches Forschungsmaterial aus einem Forschungsprojekt über Grüne Gentechnik und Mobilfunk herangezogen wird, zeige ich, dass der Diskurs in der Tat Argumentationslinien verfolgt, die auch theoretisch zu erwarten sind. Der Text versucht darzustellen, wie eine methodische Verbindung von Argumentationstheorie und Diskursforschung bzw. Science Studies gelingen kann.
• The paper suggests a new way of reconstructing the risk discourses on green gene technology and mobile telecommunications in Germany focussing on the arguments. Hereby, a special type of ignorance-based argumentation, i.e. the so called »argumentum ad ignorantiam«, is used as a key. This argument has been studied in detail in the recent years by severalscholars, especially by Douglas Walton. The results of these theoretical studies are used to analyse the argumentation structure and the dynamics of the two discourses. Drawing on material from an empirical research project on green gene technology and mobile communications in Germany, it is shown that the discourse indeed follows the pathways which the argument suggests. The paper tries to demonstrate the possibility of a fruitful connection between argumentation theory and discourse analysis resp. science studies.
