  • The following thesis deals with low-threshold offers of music therapy directed at juveniles. Starting point is the assumption, that for juveniles it may prove difficult to find access to existing therapeutical utilities, thus leaving them without professional care. A therapy typically places high demands on the young patient's concerning collaboration, willingness to change and capacity of discernment. Thus, the juveniles‘ individual experiences of life and relationships, and their potentially limited ways of expression and communication, may represent obstacles that are hard or impossible to overcome. The focal point of this thesis is the question, how low-threshold music therapy offers can close this supply gap. For this purpose the concept of low-threshold-services with its origins in social work gets adapted to music therapy. Specific music therapeutical interventions are substantiated and complemented by theoretical arguments of Community Music Therapy and psychotherapeutical references. To substantiate the theoretical considerations, a questionnaire was devised and distributed in a juvenile psychiatric hospital, that is going to be evaluated in the empirical part of this thesis. It's evaluation will form the empirical portion of this thesis. The questionnaire captures subjective impressions of the adolescent in music therapy and figures out the barriers and possibilities of access and contents of this type of creative therapy in terms of low-threshold-offers. The study ascertains, amongst other things, that the majority of adolescent experiences music therapy as easily accessible and helpful despite of small amounts of therapy unities received. Furthermore many respondents claimed that music was a more accessible tool for self-revelation than words, supporting the presumption, that music therapy might be a very appropriate way to introduce psychotherapeutical processes. In addition to a conclusion, occupational politics and financial possibilities are discussed for the implementation of low-threshold-services in music therapy forming the end of this master thesis.show moreshow less
